Odem, Texas

The city was platted in 1909 by John James Welder and David Odem. It was named for Odem, who was the county sheriff. Odem Edroy Independent School District - Odem-Edroy ISD (OEISD) is located in San Patricio County in South Texas approximately 7 miles northwest of (Calallen) Corpus Christi, Texas on U.S. Highway 77

History: Population of 4,869 approximately. OEISD is a petroleum producing and agricultural area. Agricultural products include cotton, grain sorghum, corn, beef, and cattle. Included in the District is the City of Odem, a retail center located on U.S. Highway 77. The residents of Odem/Edroy enjoy a small-town atmosphere and friendliness while being within several miles of Calallen/Corpus Christi where all water activities are available and many cultural events are celebrated throughout the year. Corpus Christi is the home of the Texas State Aquarium and The Lady Lex.
